What to Expect During an Emergency Dental Visit

An emergency dental visit can be a little frightening if you don’t know what to expect. The primary considerations are to save teeth and ease pain. Entering the office, you will be asked more about the emergency to determine how serious it is and then seen quickly. Staff will do X-rays to look at the extent of the damage or infection. That will be followed by a visual inspection from a dentist.

What happens next depends on the emergency. A dentist may reinsert a knocked-out tooth, do suturing, or other procedures to stabilize the injury. In other cases, they may give you antibiotics, prescribe pain medicine, and refer you to your dentist for a follow-up appointment the next day or two.

Either way, you will gain pain relief and reduce the extent of injury or infection. You will have answers and a path to full recovery.

Understanding Dental Emergencies

Every dental situation may seem huge and all could have some element of pain. However, not all are dental emergencies. A dental emergency is a situation where there is injury, knocked-out teeth, blood, or excruciating pain where you can’t function or sleep. Fortunately, 11 Dental is here to handle both your dental emergencies and non-emergencies that cause you or loved ones pain. Our dentists and specialists identify the problem and offer immediate solutions.
