Traditional Braces Are Proven Tried and True

Traditional braces have long been an orthodontic option. Braces come with brackets that fit on your teeth, archwires connecting them and elastic bands for additional forced movement. Braces have always been a highly effective and reliable form of treatment. Braces are a great option for younger children and for those who have more complex orthodontic issues.

One aspect about modern braces is that you don’t have to stick to metal versions. At 11 Dental, we have clear or ceramic braces that offer the same effectiveness but with a nicer appearance. We can go over all your options with their pros and cons so you can make the best choice.

11 Dental can help you make your smile bigger and more attractive than ever with our braces!

Your Orthodontic Treatment in Three Steps

We will evaluate your teeth and offer our recommendation. The exam includes digital X-rays and impressions of your teeth. We use this to determine proper bite alignment and plan your treatment.
Braces installation will happen on your next visit. The orthodontist will put brackets on your teeth with adhesive. They will thread the archwire through them and install elastic bands to guide tooth movement.
You will then go through your treatment with adjustments and follow-up visits. These happen between every 4 to 8 weeks. The orthodontist tightens wires and changes the bands. You will receive a retainer for maintenance after your braces are removed.

Traditional Braces Aren’t the Same Anymore

Traditional braces, especially the metal version, go back for decades. Some may remember wearing them as a child. The way they work is still the same because they are effective and reliable. However, traditional braces have advanced with modern times and are different from those of yesterday. Today’s braces are more comfortable and look better than those parents or grandparents wore. They are made of different materials and use different technology, making them superior in effectiveness too.

Braces were once made of stainless steel bands wrapped around each tooth. They were bulky and uncomfortable, especially after adjustments. Modern braces use heat-activated nickel-titanium wires.

Ceramic braces blend in with natural teeth and the frosted archwires are less noticeable, creating a discreet appearance.

Modern braces are more effective than those of the past because they now apply a gentle, consistent pressure using better elastic bands. The bands also come in many colors rather than traditional beige so you can create a sense of style.

Patients with bone grafts have a higher success rate with their dental implants. That’s because the bone is a better foundation.

Bone graft cost can vary.. It depends on the bone graft material used and how much is needed. Synthetic material is more affordable than other options. Bone grafts cost additionally beyond the cost of the extraction or implant.

Bone grafting helps maintain facial contours that can collapse or sink after tooth loss, keeping your smile and facial structure more youthful and natural-looking.

Traditional Braces Aren’t Forever

Traditional braces have a good track record of keeping your orthodontic treatments on a timely schedule. Treatments can last anywhere from 12 to 24 months in most cases. The average is 18 months. Getting orthodontic treatment at a younger age gives a greater chance of quicker success but adults can use traditional braces to fix many orthodontic problems. They are an excellent choice for complex issues.
