Fluoride Treatments

Get Protected with Fluoride Treatments

One of the easiest ways to get additional protection from cavities is with our fluoride treatment. In this optional treatment, our professionals apply fluoride to your teeth to remineralize your enamel. It is easy and painless. You allow it to absorb into your teeth over the next hour or so. That is all there is to it.
Fluoride has been proven since the 1960s to protect teeth from cavity-causing bacteria. However, having it in public drinking water isn’t enough anymore because many drink bottled water that doesn’t contain fluoride. This procedure gives you extra protection and can be done with your regular dental exam.

Reverse Early Cavities

Fluoride treatments are known to reverse Stage 1 cavities. These are cavities that haven’t yet destroyed enamel but show up as white spots. You don’t yet have pain or see a pit. Remineralizing enamel at this early stage stops cavities and even reverses them. This saves you costs of fillings later.

Good Protection

Topical treatments with fluoride are a safe way to keep your teeth protected from cavities. Enamel can’t be replaced but it can be strengthened and getting a fluoride treatment does that. Keeping your teeth protected and healthy saves you money over time.

The Process of Getting a Fluoride Treatment

The best time to get a fluoride treatment is after an exam and cleaning. This way, your teeth are clean so the fluoride treatment is more effective.

You go about your day. It’s recommended not to eat or drink anything for 30 minutes to an hour so the fluoride has a chance to absorb into the teeth.

The dentist or hygienist will apply the fluoride to your teeth using a brush. It feels like they are painting your teeth. There is no discomfort or anesthetic used.
