Root Canal

Root Canals Can Be Convenient & Painless

Root canals are greatly misunderstood. They have always been considered to be a problematic dental procedure, dreaded, and painful. That may have been true in the past but not today and not at 11 Dental. Advanced procedures and our highly skilled dental professionals make getting a root canal routine and simple. We administer a local anesthetic so you only feel some pressure of work being done but will feel nothing else. There is only minimal discomfort afterward that can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

Root canals are a way dentists can save your tooth from underlying infection. You are likely experiencing a great deal of pain already and a root canal relieves the pain and swelling. The dentist removes the infection, allowing for healthier gums and teeth. Your tooth is given a crown to protect it further.

Relieve Pain Quickly

A cracked or decayed tooth can lead to an infection at its root. This causes swollen gums and intense pain. A root canal remedies the problem by removing infection, providing immediate relief.
Root canals are a way to save the tooth. Teeth with a cavity or a small fracture can be saved. Your endodontist will determine whether the best course is a root canal or for a dentist to perform an extraction.

Signs I Need a Root Canal

You will know when you have an abscessed tooth or an infection at its root. You will have a toothache that may come and go. Your tooth will be sensitive to hot and cold foods. There could be pain when you chew. The gum area will swell and then you may feel intense, constant pain.

A root canal takes between 90 minutes and two hours to perform but depends on the severity of the condition and each patient

Full healing takes at least a couple of weeks but can take months. It depends on the patient’s overall health and whether they follow aftercare instructions.

You may need two appointments because the customized crown can take a couple of weeks to make. The root canal is done in the first appointment with the permanent crown installed in the second.
